Project Summary
The Seaworks Maritime Precinct in Williamstown hosts many different events on its 2.7ha waterfront site. It is estimated approximately 150,000 people attend the site per year, with an expectation visitation will increase with the arrival of more major events and activity at the site. This prompted the need for a site-specific public safety review and the development of a traffic management plan.

We were engaged to create event guidelines and site-specific event traffic management plan.

For this project, the priority was to outline the key safety risks identified in relation to vehicles and pedestrians and to propose mitigation controls. Particular focus was given to risks associated with event activity at the site. Our goal was to develop site-specific safety guidelines for those directly engaged in the planning and management of events at the Seaworks Precinct.

The scope of the plan included: traffic and parking management, site monitoring, signage & notifications, and emergency response. The plan provides recommended risk mitigation controls to safely manage traffic and pedestrians on the site for three scenarios (regular site use, event activity and during an emergency service response).
